A nun has been commended for her bravery after trying to disarm a knifeman shouting “we have to kill Macron” before attacking a priest in a church in Nice, southern France.
“The idea is to show that Islam has been part of French cultural heritage since the Middle Ages,” Yannick Lintz, the head of the Louvre’s Islamic department, told The Art Newspaper.
As France begins its second lockdown this year, French bishops are filing an urgent appeal to continue public Masses, arguing that the most recent coronavirus restrictions “violate freedom of worship.”
The deadly attack in Nice, was not the only violent incident to take place on Thursday, in the wake of a strong reaction in France, led by President Macron, to the beheading of a teacher near Paris nearly two weeks ago.
