The chairwoman of Scotland’s largest independent grant-making charity has stood down after being found to have discriminated against a former chief executive who opposed gay marriage.

Shonaig Macpherson has confirmed her immediate retirement from The Robertson Trust after 17 years of service, weeks after an employment tribunal ruled that her testimony was “not sufficiently reliable”. Her tenure had been expected to end in 2023.
