Beware the Taliban and do not fall for their game. They know that they have to earn legitimacy to establish themselves, and they know exactly how to give the impression that they are heeding the words of the West — by creating the illusion of maintaining women’s rights. Some, for example, may be heartened to hear the announcement that Afghan women will still be able to attend university – perhaps the Taliban are softening? As a Muslim woman, I am not fooled.
