A doctor caused a patient “significant anxiety” by asking a Muslim woman to remove her veil and demonstrated an “intolerance and disdain for patients”, a tribunal has ruled.

Dr Keith Wolverson initially received the support of more 133,000 people in a petition titled “Stop Dr Wolverson getting fired” after he was reported to the General Medical Council (GMC) in 2019.

On Monday, a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) hearing found Dr Wolverson was “impaired by reason of misconduct” after referring to patients’ ability to speak English as “abysmal”, “extremely wanting” and “terrible”.
